Three people are detained by police in Bauchi for allegedly defiling youngsters

The Bauchi State Police Command has detained three people who are suspected of defiling minors who are nine, ten, and eleven years old.

In a statement released on Thursday, SP Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesperson, stated that the cases demonstrated the state’s children’s vulnerability and the necessity of group vigilance to shield them from individuals of dubious character.

In order to prevent child abuse and guarantee that those responsible are held accountable, he also emphasised the significance of group monitoring.

Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police, voiced worry over the incidences and reiterated the command’s dedication to safeguarding minors and making sure that anyone involved, regardless of their social standing, faced the full force of the law.

The statement claims that after the alleged abuse, the girl was brought to General Hospital in Toro for medical care. It further stated that while investigators reached the spot and started investigations to guarantee justice, the suspect first disputed the accusation.

In the second instance, on October 13, 2026, a mother from Gwallameji, Bauchi, complained to the E Division that her nine-year-old daughter had allegedly been enticed into the room of 35-year-old Sabitu Muhammed, who was accused of having multiple sexual encounters with the youngster.

According to Habib, the victim was taken to the Bauchi police facility for medical attention and support after the police detained the culprit. The State Criminal Investigation Department was then given the file to look into further, he continued.

According to the spokesperson, a 40-year-old lady from Wuntin Dada reported the third occurrence on October 13, 2026, at the B Division in GRA, Bauchi. She claimed that 22-year-old Anas Adam, a resident of the same neighbourhood, stopped her on her way home after sending her 10-year-old daughter to buy sugar that evening. He allegedly took her to his house and violated her.

According to the statement, the girl was brought to the police clinic for a medical evaluation while detectives visited the area. Due to his suspected involvement in the incident, the suspect was also taken into custody.

The alleged activities were vehemently denounced by the Commissioner of Police, who called them an attack on humanity and described them as cruel and savage. In order to achieve justice, he reassured the victims and their families that the command will carry out in-depth investigations and seek prosecution.

Aliyu urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to keep a tight eye on their kids and to report any suspicious conduct or abuse incidents to the closest police station right away.

He underlined that in order to discourage offenders and secure young girls’ futures, it is our common duty to protect children.
